Dear Parishioners:

Next Sunday is Father’s Day. A Blessed Father’s Day to all of our fathers, those whom are living and those whom have gone before us in faith. Celebrating Father’s Day and Mother’s Day gives all of us an opportunity to give thanks for all the support, blessings and love our parents shared with us. Fathers and mothers have that wonderful opportunity to continue God’s greatest gift, the gift of life. The gift of life which God supports through his love and the love that our parents shared with us. A simple recognition of thanks is the best gift we can give our parents, a heartfelt appreciation for all they do for us. In a special way next Sunday both in word and at Mass, let us give thanks for the gift of our Fathers.

We are blessed as a Church to have as the patron of Father’s St. Joseph, the husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus. While there is no written word, in the scriptures, of Joseph speaking, much is written about how he responded to God’s call in his life and the utter care he gives to Jesus and Mary. From the birth of Jesus to the death of Joseph the actions of Joseph tell the story of a loving father and husband. Perhaps you can take some time this week to review in the scriptures the stories told of loving fathers and let all of us give thanks for those faith-filled and loving fathers in our lives.

Blessings!

Dear Parishioners:

Last week we celebrated the birthday of our Church with the Feast of Pentecost. As we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity this Sunday I would like to share with you what some young members of our parish spoke about concerning our faith in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Do we see ourselves as real partners with the Holy Trinity? Do we believe that we can do just a little bit more to promote the Kingdom of God in our midst? The following was written by some young students and speaks to the previous two questions which might help us as Christians to follow through on what God calls us to do:

I will do more than just belong – I will participate.

I will do more than just care – I will help.

I will do more than just believe – I will practice.

I will do more than just forgive – I will love.

I will do more than just teach – I will enrich.

I will do more than just live – I will grow.

I will do more than just be friendly – I will be a friend.

There are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.

Lord you have made each one of us unique for some purpose. May the Holy Spirit empower each of us to wisely use our time, talent, and treasure as sons and daughters of the risen Lord.

Blessings!
